My future vision for the Whitgift is that...

"It could easily become similar (or better) than Maddison Square Gardens in NY... with a large enclosed events and sports venue, with shopping and accommodation above, and a large roof park and South Bank vibe on top (that's dearly missing in our town centre).

It's now quicker to get to Croydon from Brighton than from North London... it's the perfect location for a multi-use events and sports venues... with truly huge access connections not being utilised. Such use will revitalise the nighttime economy too.

Add smaller creative units so it's not all bland offices at ground level... it will attract lots back to Croydon as a destination again. But it needs a "wow" vision for Whitgift to achieve this... and please don't become another heartless Elephant & Castle redevelopment."- Fran, (Croydon resident, 13th November 2023)
